Opportunity Zones have been identified as one of the BEST capital gains tax reduction programs of a generation, and they are worthy of attention from self-storage investors.

Opportunity Ahead Sign

Opportunity Zones are low income census tracts nominated by governors and certified by the US Department of the Treasury into which investors can now put capital to work financing new projects in exchange for certain federal capital gains tax advantages.

The US has over 8,700 Opportunity Zones in every state and territory that were created by the tax reform act of 2017. There are 168 Opportunity Zones in Arizona, in both urban and rural areas.

In this webinar, Scott Meyers of Self-Storage Profits Inc., will show you how to defer capital income tax gains on certain investments, and also how to eliminate capital gains taxes on qualifying investments held 10 years or longer. You’ll learn:

  • The origin of Opportunity Zones and how best to approach them;
  • Where to find and how to evaluate the best sites in an Opportunity Zone;
  • How to receive a temporary tax deferral for capital gains reinvested in an Opportunity Zone Fund;
  • How to qualify for a permanent exclusion from taxable income of capital gains from the sale or exchange of an investment in a qualified opportunity zone investment;
  • Why you need to ACT NOW to take advantage of this incredible opportunity that was created by the Jobs Act on December 22, 2017.

About Our Speaker

Scott Meyers Self Storage Profits Inc

Scott Meyers is a leading expert in self-storage investment. After becoming a penniless landlord in the single family rental and apartment business, he began investing in self-storage.  He “saw the light” and quickly sold all his single family rentals and apartments to create a portfolio of self-storage facilities nationwide.  His company's focus is on syndicating self-storage deals and helping others launch their own self-storage business to enjoy a lifestyle free from residential tenants, toilets, and trash!

Scott Meyers is the principal in 30 facilities totaling over 7,000 units and over 1 million square feet of storage.  He is also the Founder and President of SelfStorageInvesting.com (Self-Storage Profits, Inc.), a leading self-storage education company that offers courses, live events, and mentoring/coaching.  His company was started in 2006 for the purpose of acquiring, developing, and operating self-storage facilities, and has raised over $20 million in syndicates and private equity partnerships to fuel their growth.
