Who:       All AZSA Members
What:   AZSA Webinar:  Operational Changes & the Impact on Insurance
When:   Wednesday, June 7, 11 am - noon
Where:   On your computer (and later on the AZSA website)
Why:   To make sure your insurance coverage is up to par

Cyber Liability is one of the latest buzz words in insurance and technology is the buzz word in self-storage.  As the industry is quickly becoming, dare I say the words “tech savvy”  or  technology driven, the need for cyber protection isn’t as much an option, but rather should be considered part of your insurance portfolio.

  • Think:  Data Breach Laws, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Loss of Reputation, Trust and Confidence, Ransomware’s Impact and Being Locked out of Networks, Personal Identifiable Information.

Pollution Liability is a scary thought that most facility owners don’t want to discuss and likely isn’t covered on your facility insurance policy the way you think it’s covered.

  • Think:  How should a facility properly dispose of drums?  What if there are toxic fumes? What if a leak leads to ground contamination from fuel filled equipment? How about a Meth Lab? Who do you call first?

Employment Practices Liability insurance is on the rise.  While employees are one of our greatest assets, they can also pose as a liability threat.

  • Think:  What is the impact if I need to let an employee go?  How do I manage my staff’s breaks? What is the difference between them being full time vs. hourly?

Not all policies are created equal, so review with your trusted insurance broker.

About the Speaker

Tipton_Randy_Universal Insurance ProgramsRandy Tipton, CIC is the President and CEO of Universal Insurance Programs (UIP), which provides specialized insurance coverages to the self-storage industry. Her insurance experience started in 1971 as a file clerk in a small retail insurance agency. Tipton quickly developed an interest and passion for insurance and made some strategic employment moves to further her carrier as a young entrepreneurial insurance executive. In 1995, she was recruited by Universal Insurance to run all insurance operations. Ms. Tipton brought over experience and knowledge of the self-storage industry and in 2001 she launched a very competitive national self-storage insurance program. Although she operated Universal Insurance like it was her own, it wasn’t until 2005 that she had the opportunity to acquire ownership of Universal Insurance. UIP continues to have a strong presence and stellar reputation in the self-storage industry along with the other niche markets they continue to serve in. While she is very active in the agency, Randy also spends much of her time with her two children, four grandchildren (they call her MiMi) and her three very special dogs.
