Built on Self-Storage

Paramount Construction officially started in 2018, but our roots in the industry go back even further. Before Paramount, we were part of Proline Contracting, which began in 2010, and one of our earliest self-storage customers was Extra Space Storage.

Self-storage has been at the center of what we do from the beginning. While a smaller and growing part of our company works within the broader commercial sector, our foundation, experience, and primary focus remain firmly in self-storage.

Our goal is to continue building Paramount into a nationwide, one-stop resource for the storage industry, with as much of the work as possible handled in-house and self-performed rather than relying on a long list of subcontractors.

After years of working in this industry, we understand that self-storage is its own niche. Construction and facility maintenance within storage come with nuances that someone unfamiliar with the industry may not recognize. That specialized knowledge is a big part of what we bring to every project.

Creating a True One-Stop Shop

One of the things that sets Paramount apart is the range of projects we are willing and able to handle.

There are companies that may position themselves as full-service providers, particularly when it comes to larger construction projects. Our vision is a little different. We want to be there for both the big projects and the smaller, everyday needs that can become major headaches for facility operators.

Facility maintenance shouldn’t have to be complicated. Our goal is for a customer to be able to call us, explain what they need, and know that we’ll respond quickly, get to the property, provide a quote, and take care of the issue.

We handle renovations, upgrades, office remodels, facility expansions, repairs, maintenance, and a variety of other projects. While we have not built a completely new self-storage development from the ground up, we have completed expansions that included constructing new buildings within existing facilities.

We also have extensive experience updating and converting self-storage offices. Over the years, we estimate we have completed more than 500 office conversions for Extra Space Storage alone, with that work stretching back to approximately 2011 or 2012.

Relationships Matter Just as Much as the Work

Doing quality work is obviously essential, but we believe the relationships we build at the property level are just as important.

Store managers are the people dealing directly with a project while still trying to operate a facility and take care of their customers. The last thing we want to do is create another disruption in their day.

We take pride in hearing managers say that our crews showed up when they said they would, communicated throughout the project, were professional on-site, and made the process easy.

That reliability builds trust.

Our relationships with property managers and facility teams have played a major role in generating repeat business. We want managers to feel confident that when Paramount is coming to their property, the work is going to be handled properly without becoming another problem they have to manage.

Growing With the Self-Storage Industry

Our relationships within self-storage have also helped Paramount expand geographically.

Today, we work in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii, which we currently service remotely. We are also in the process of expanding into Utah.

Arizona is one of our newer markets, but it has quickly become an important one for us. We have seen significant growth and construction activity throughout the Phoenix area, along with a strong need for experienced service providers who understand self-storage.

Northern California is another particularly active market. With its dense population and continued demand for storage, the Bay Area remains extremely busy.

Our long-standing customer relationships have helped us enter new markets with an established workload and reputation behind us. Extra Space Storage continues to be our largest customer, followed by CubeSmart and SmartStop.

That reputation matters in an industry as close-knit as self-storage. People talk. When you perform well, communicate clearly, and consistently deliver, that reputation can open doors. But you still have to perform every time.

Quality Control Is Part of the Process

As Paramount has grown, we have worked hard to make sure growth does not come at the expense of quality.

Our systems are designed to keep projects streamlined, but we also believe in having people in the field checking on crews, visiting properties, communicating with managers, and making sure our customers are satisfied with the work being performed.

That additional layer of quality control is important to us.

We are not simply sending someone to a property to complete a repair and hoping everything works out. We are building a professional service organization designed specifically around the needs of self-storage operators.

We want customers to know there is a company available that understands the scale of their operation, understands their facilities, and can still provide the personal service and accountability they expect.

Helping Existing Facilities Stay Competitive

As newer self-storage properties continue to enter markets such as Arizona, we believe maintenance, renovations, and upgrades will become increasingly important for existing facilities.

Many new developments are incorporating features such as climate-controlled storage from the beginning. At older-generation properties, upgrades and retrofits may become an important way to remain competitive as customer expectations and local markets evolve.

Every market and every property is different, but there is a growing need for operators to look carefully at how their facilities present and function.

Sometimes remaining competitive doesn’t require rebuilding an entire property. Updating an office, improving existing buildings, expanding a facility, or taking care of overdue maintenance can make a meaningful difference in how a property looks, operates, and serves its customers.

Why We Joined AZSA

Joining the Arizona Self-Storage Association gives us an opportunity to become more deeply connected to Arizona’s self-storage community.

We have spent years working within the industry. We already recognize many of the companies and individuals involved with AZSA, and we are looking forward to finally putting faces to familiar names, reconnecting with longtime industry contacts, and developing new relationships.

Of course, we also want Arizona operators to learn more about Paramount and the services we can provide. We believe there are owners and managers who simply may not realize that a company like ours exists—one that can handle such a wide range of facility needs while remaining focused specifically on self-storage.

But joining AZSA is about more than introducing our company. It is also an opportunity for us to learn from other members, meet owners and operators, participate in association events, and become even more connected to the industry we have built our careers around.

Self-storage is a relationship-driven business, and we are excited to strengthen those relationships here in Arizona.

Looking Ahead

Our vision for Paramount is straightforward: continue building a company that self-storage owners and operators can rely on, regardless of whether they need a relatively small maintenance project, a major renovation, or a facility expansion.

We want working with a construction and maintenance partner to feel easy.

Show up when you say you will. Communicate with the manager. Do quality work. Check the finished product. Make sure the customer is happy.

Those principles have helped us grow from our early work in self-storage into multiple markets, and they will continue to guide us as Paramount expands.

We’re excited to be part of AZSA, and we look forward to meeting more of Arizona’s self-storage owners, operators, managers, and industry partners.
